Small bathrooms: how to organize the space well? A small bathroom can be a problem for many: yet, with the right precautions not only regarding the use of bathroom fixtures but also as regards the contextual choice of styles, colors, and light, one can find excellent possibilities for also making a small bathroom a welcoming and functional environment.
Small bathrooms: the problems
It doesn’t take much to figure out what the main problem might be for someone with a small bathroom. Space is very much in a home, especially for what concerns an environment that is so important from a practical and functional point of view, such as the bathroom.
A very useful element, now, not only because it represents the normal opportunity to fulfill one’s physiological needs, but also because the bathroom, for some time, has increasingly been conceived and seen as a welcoming environment, in which one can relax after a day’s work for example.
And if it is true that in a small bathroom it is certainly not possible to implement a whirlpool, it is also true that there are still multi-purpose cabins or shower columns, which could well solve the problem of space and functionality.
But what are the most common problems for those with small bathrooms?
Space, of course, is the first fundamental problem. Because in fact, a home that is not very spacious requires special attention because on the one hand, it is good to focus, as always, on the functionality of the furnishings and spaces of an environment, but on the other hand, one cannot fail to mention the appearance aesthetic, however very important.
Therefore, when we talk about small bathrooms, we immediately think of environments that are not very functional and impractical, in which we can only use the sanitary fittings, and in which maybe even a certain effort is made to move: with some changes, however, it will be instead it is quite possible to make even the smallest bathroom a welcoming, bright and functional environment.
There is no space for the cabinets? You can opt for vertical solutions, which give the possibility of optimizing space in this sense: obviously, however, you should not overdo it, in order not to risk overloading the environment too much.
In any case, with some changes, the problems concerning too small bathrooms can easily be remedied, and we will now see how.
Small bathrooms: how to organize space
The fundamental thing, in this sense, is certainly optimization: it is a sort of password, a keyword that concerns the ability to use the available space as smartly and carefully as possible. This, however, is not only an innate capacity but also requires a certain study of the environment. Before opting for the organization of space, it is, therefore, advisable to plan out the bathroom and try to use furniture and furnishings, sanitary ware and decorations, suited to this need.
If the space available is not much, for example, it is not good to fill a bathroom with a huge hot tub that would crush all the other elements: instead, it is important to opt for a different choice, which may still contain an element suitable for relaxation, but smaller and more functional, such as a hydromassage shower column .
Another interesting option is the one that allows you to use the angular space, often a dead space: in this case, if you have enough game available, you could opt for the choice of a corner shower, in order to optimize the as much as possible that space.
A useful idea regarding the sanitary ware could be to opt for the suspended sanitary ware: sink, bidet and even the toilet can be suspended from the ground, thus giving a little more space or at least a sort of optical illusion that allows, precisely, to have “extra space” to move.
The thin cabinets – that is not very deep – and vertical can be a clever space-saving solution to insert detergents, detergents, and everything needed for bathroom hygiene and daily cleansing. In this sense, the classic space-saving piece of furniture that is applied vertically on the washing machine and which allows us to optimize and use a space that would otherwise be lost is useful.
But not only: the optimization of spaces does not only pass through the choice of adequate products and healthcare but also through the fair and clever use of light and decorations, styles, and materials used. It goes without saying that a bathroom that is too “heavy” – with dark walls could create an optical illusion of little taste and thus not in any way guarantee the right choice of space use.
Small bathrooms: styles and materials
The small bathrooms require proper use, as we have seen, not only of the same elements of the bathroom – just as health care, for an “optical” question, you should use white color – but also the hue and decorations used. Plants, natural light, soft colors, can be the right choices to make a bathroom that does not really shine for large dimensions more spacious, at least visually and visually.
But what could the styles and materials possibly be?
An unsuitable style could be too classic, imperial, or baroque: the watchword, in a small bathroom, is minimalism.
And therefore we would like to recommend a modern, minimalist, essential, but also clever and rigorously soft style: the interesting idea is to use soft and delicate colors, which give a sort of “light” and which therefore also confer the illusion of having more space at your disposal. No strong colors like red, dark gray, or black, yes, in pastel colors but always clear: white, ivory, cream, and light gray, as well as blue and aqua green.
A rather interesting style could be the Japanese style: simple, essential, it gives an exotic look but also very soft and relaxing to the environment, and is based, precisely, on essential and minimalist elements. Even a modern bathroom, with suspended ceramic elements, or even glass, can represent an interesting and very useful idea in this sense.
Among the materials to be taken into consideration, we recommend porcelain stoneware or wax-polished concrete.
Small bathrooms: ideas and suggestions
As we anticipated, a small bathroom can be made or even renovated using simple elements that are easy to find but also easy to use and consume. Suspended elements, in ceramic or glass, the use of a few pieces of furniture or any way of only vertical elements, the wise and intelligent choice of colors and shades can be useful advice.
With few elements, but also with little money, it is possible, with a little cunning, to create small bathrooms of a certain relevance also from the point of view of styles. An idea? The flush floor shower tray: useful but also not very visible, it can be an optimal method for the use of small spaces.
An important suggestion that we would like to repeat consists of avoiding the use of dark shades, which would turn off the already small environment without giving light or dimensionality. Well, instead, the geometries: they can be a very intelligent and valid optical illusion.
Small bathrooms: such as prices
The prices for the renovation of a small bathroom are certainly not as impressive as those concerning the renovation of a large bathroom.
Indicatively, a lot depends on the type of intervention that is going on, and on the surface, the cost could be between € 750.00 and € 1,000.00, to which to add the one related to materials.
Other costs include, for example:
- Sanitary installation: about € 50.00
- Installation of bathroom furnishings: around € 80.00
Small bathrooms: how to save money?
Saving, however, is a must, especially in times of crisis. And then it can be very useful to request more estimates, to which reference can be made for a truly prudent decision and evaluation: stopping on just one company, in fact, may not be the right choice and could instead involve excessive economic expenditure.
